This week, my guest on the Amazing Teacher Podcast is 2012 National Teacher of the Year, Rebecca Mieliwocki.
In the podcast, Rebecca shared how and why she became a teacher, and she takes us through her educational journey that led her to earning the highest award given to a teacher.
Yes, I asked her what it was like to meet the President. You know I had to.
Through her words, we are taken into the White House to rub shoulders with President Obama.
That was cool.
Rebecca gives new teachers some very valuable advice in the areas of classroom management and lesson planning.
Her love for and belief in students is evident in her answers to my questions.
She shares with us how important it is to give students “a great tomorrow,” and she leaves us with an image of a “teacher with a shovel” – that teacher who is willing to do whatever it takes to help a student dig himself out of the hole he has made.
I was inspired by Rebecca to use her “great tomorrow” approach with a particularly challenging student of mine, and I found it to be amazingly effective.
I know you will find great value in this podcast episode. I know I did.
